Jul 30 the Indian government has launched e-Aksharayan — a desktop software for converting any scanned or printed Indian language documents into fully editable text.

  "e-Aksharayan is a desktop software for converting scanned printed  Indian language documents into a fully editable text format in Unicode  encoding .

it can be downloaded for free from its website.
