Former NFL player Evan Mathis earned $21.1 million during his career. Needless to say, one of the game's best guards during his time in the league isn't out here wanting for money.

Even then, Mathis is proving to be a pretty wise investor. The latest example of this comes in the form of a 1952 Mickey Mantle baseball card the former Pro Bowler is auctioning off.

The card itself might be the best in the history of the industry. It's a second-year Mantle card. The first card Topps ever released of the all-time MLB great.

According to industry experts, the card could go for a cool $3.5 million on Heritage Auctions.

Though, one Denver-based memorabilia collector thinks Mathis could get even more for the card.

"Over $5 million. Easy,” Marshall Fogel said, via The Denver Post. “A ’52 Mantle card by Topps baseball company is a second-year card of Mickey Mantle. The first-year card is not as beautiful, nor is it as desirable, though it is important. It’s made by a different company and it more looks like a painting than a photograph. The ’52 Mantle is the King of King cards."
My gosh.

To all those old-timers out there who used this Mantle card on the spokes of their bikes, we're sorry. For the rest of us, it's time to go through our father's baseball card collections.

Over $5 million for one baseball card? That's all sorts of insane. And it could lead to Mathis making more money in auctioning off one card than he made in any season in the NFL.

Yeah, that's just weird.
