Hey, remember the case a couple years ago where a 10-year old girl was raped and impregnated by her mom’s boyfriend, and the GOP wanted to force her to carry her rapist’s fetus to term? You may recall that prominent members of the GOP claimed that such a girl did not exist. (She exists. The rapist was sentenced to life in prison)
The case was clearly embarrassing to Republican politicians in Ohio and Indiana. What you may not know is that the doctor that brought the case to public attention (Dr. Caitlin Bernard) has been hounded by the Republican Attorney General of Indiana for the last two years, threatening to revoke her license to practice over utterly baseless claims of HIPPA violations. (No such violation occurred. The doctor never revealed any identifying information about the little girl)
While the investigation itself was the punishment, the good news is that it has finally (after two years!) been dropped.
