1100 - SBD Conversion "Scam"? What To Do With Steem? Pal Trading - Prices - 4/607

in milestone •  5 years ago

I'm now safely over 1,100 Steem Power. 35 days ago was 1000

I am doing a couple of SBD to Steem Conversions right now but I think I might get ripped off because the witnesses are giving a false Steem price. :(

I think the price should at least be closer to the actual price. Right now Steem = $0.177317 but the feed price is $.21. according to https://steemd.com/.

Since it appears I will not be able to do conversions I'm not sure what I will do with my Steem. For the most part bots seem unprofitable and I think I've lost Steem doing delegations.

I tried "some" Pal trading today. I'm pretty sure I went up against a bot and was able to get rid of it but I will know more tomorrow. The bot seemed to be programmed pretty well.

Steem = $0.177313 not sure why it spiked.

Pal = 0.11503 bid = 0.11600 ask = 0.13289

conversion is mostly waste of money. It takes five days so quite uncertain too. I would just do some liquidity gap trading if i wanted to play between the margins.

I thought it was 3.5. Do you do any trading?

little but here and thr. Not much. Not worth the investment it needs in time.

Conversions are only profitable if the feed price is lower than the external and/or the internal market. As @buggedout mentioned the feed price reflects the valuation of SBD on the external markets due to the haircut rule.

The feed price is priced in SBD. Because SBD is currently in haircut territory it is sub $1 (currently about 0.81). Just take a look at the internal market which is similarly skewed. 0.17 / 0.81 is about 0.21

So do you think I will lose on my conversion? If the feed price was right wouldn't everyone convert their SBD's into Steem and fix things?

Do you mean - If the SBD peg was properly pegged to $1?

I'm saying the price feed is not wrong. Considering the STEEM price is up the last 24 hours you might even end up better off than if you'd sold your SBD and bought STEEM. That is the gamble with conversions - it depends how the market moves during the 3.5 day conversion window.

Yeah I think it should be properly pegged to 1$ when I do the conversion.

Wow, glad to see you are still posting! I haven't been here in months!

I am seeing a #newsteem floating around, do you know what's that about?

Is it in relation to SMT?

The main changes are you can now upvote at 5 minutes and you don't want to solo upvote anymore. It's mainly all about autovoters now.

What is a feed price?

The price of Steem according to the witnesses.
