I had my first successful mining experience with MinerGate. I love it for that. It gave me the inspiration a newbie could ever dream of. Time passed, it got me matured and I figured out it's not a toy for me anymore. It's for babies, at least when it comes to mining ETH. Though, I must admit it's not that bad either.
I used to get 20 mh/s with it on my Win 10 machine with AMD RX 480, highest being 23 mh/s, and lowest? 6 mh/s :'( Worst part is after several painless bug free days, I stated to get those scary blue screen suddenly... and finally one day, got my hard disk crashed...yikes!
Since then, I learned to use Claymore miner on Nanopool. Life's been so awesome since then ;)
Final words: I won't say it's bad. You may start with MinerGate and maybe mine some CPU mineable coins like BCN or XDN. In fact MinerGate is the only tool I found that mines ByteCoin-BCN and it does that so good! However, if you want to get the most out of your GPU, use Claymore miner. Questions? Sure...
