Minimally Invasive Heart Bypass Surgery

Minimally invasive heart bypass surgery or the MIDCAB is used for the correction of coronary heart disease. It is a minimally invasive approach to the conventional heart bypass surgery. The surgery, also referred as “keyhole heart surgery,” is done on the beating heart. As the heart is not made to stop pumping, there is no requirement of a heart-lung machine.

MIDCAB has positive results similar to that of the conventional bypass surgery. The procedure restores sufficient blood flow as well as normal delivery of oxygen to the heart.

With smaller incisions and a beating heart, the surgery has added advantages that are as follows:
