Can anyone explain the mining market in a few words?

I made some research myself so I just need some answers from those already mining for a while.
BTC is only mineable with ASICS, right? Is there any coin worth mining with processors? Or with Nvidia cheaper cards?
Or, is there a way to get int crypt o with a minimum investment?

    ETH can be mined profitably with a GPU... Take a look on Newegg or Amazon and try to find an RX 580... You won't be able to, they're all sold out because of their efficiency and the current gold rush going on!
