I went to the cinema on Saturday and it was quite an experience. I watched Minions: The RIse of Gru together with my kids, my wife, and a friend of mine, and I had a great time. I had seen the trailer a couple of times and I feared that all the jokes was shown in the trailer, but I was actually positively surprised by all the other jokes.
The Rise of Gru shows us Gru as a quite nice guy with a good heart, only that he years to be bad. The minions are extremely cute and the humor of the movie is brilliant. They manage to make the kids laugh, meanwhile the parents laugh as well due to the fact that most of the jokes are actually created for adults and not for kids. As a result, this is a perfect family movie that should make all generations laugh and enjoy themselves.
That is why I can warmly recommend The Rise of Gru to anyone who likes an animated movie. To be honest, I think this was the best minion movie I have seen so far, and I do believe that my kids felt the same way.
It should be said that the movie has a 12-year rating (at least in Hungary). I don't think it is a problem to show it to kids aged 8 or 9, but much younger kids might actually end up finding it boring as they do not get all the humor of the movie. There are also some scenes that kids might find disturbing, especially during the final 20 minutes of the movie in which we meet a dragon and some other creatures that might look dangerous to some.
All in all, an awesome movie! And guess what, Saturday was a great day for me, because right after watching The Rise of Gru I ended up in the cinema once again to watch Thor: Love and Thunder. Was that experience just as good as the minion experience? I will let you know in another article!
