SPOILERS ALL RIGHTS TO RESPECTIVE OWNERS**
From the trailer alone, we get the sense of something like Wormwood.
Could do without the reenactments.
Somehow, she just vanished. What? From her shopping trip.
Sister Russell knew that The Catholic Church isn’t to be messed with…. or so it seems.
And the place there, if it’s real, is super desolate for suburb standards, although it’s well lit.
So, they suddenly come upon a swampy car?? Adjacent to Cathy’s apartment?
Another nun, Malecki, went missing 4 days after Selznick? WHAT?
Both “went shopping.” So, what’s that code? How did this phrase come around?
Unlocked, keys in the ignition?
So, Joyce Maleki was found in a river, throat cut, hands tied.
And the FBI is grandstanding. As usual.
So, Selznick’s skull was crushed in.
People keep referring to Selznick as attractive.
Someone wanted both nuns to be hidden, according to Bob Erlanson. I agree. Where they were found, where Selznick’s body was found, it was hidden. Someone knew the area.
I wonder what Sister Russell knew.
Who’s Jane Doe? Jane Wehner.
“These people were working in factory jobs.” This is how far back the murder of Cathy Selznick is.
The spiritual abuse was there... One of Jane’s brothers confirm the spiritual abuse. So did Jane.
And these fucking priests prayed as they abused Jane.
“How can the church be revamped in the 1960’s?”
No idea… how about stopping pedophilia for fucking good and the cover ups in The Catholic Church as a matter of policy?
The teachers turned a blind eye… of course. Same as Spotlight.
“It takes a village to raise a child. It also takes a village to abuse one.”
The grooming, the blackmail…fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Naivety” and denial. And severe spiritual abuse, brainwashing, and grooming.
Psych certification. Shit. Hypnotism? NO….
The final monologue (in film terms)/ sequence is…spooky. Horrifying. Straight out a movie. Fucking mobster type shit.
“Do you see what happens when you say bad things about people?”
WAIT WHAT?? WHAT?
Father Rick Woy believed “Jane Doe.” A wonderful man. A true priest.
Jean did have a fantastic support network. Her entire fucking family was behind her. Her husband, her kids, everyone. And THAT is AMAZING. It cannot be overlooked. Massive ups to them. Thank you to them. THANK YOU ALL.
The parents willingly handing over their kids to the wolves because they’re priests is terrifying. This is why you don’t let a lab coat fool you.
Beverly Wallace, the new lawyer, got so many responses. Tens of responses. This network of people, cops, politicians, doctors, that watched these children be attacked.
FUCK! THIS GUY IS FUCKING INSANE!
Jane Roe and Jane Doe fucking sued ALL OF THEM. The nuns overseeing the church, Dr. Richter, The archdiocese, ALL of them. Bold!
They went to Sharon May, head of sex crimes. According to The Keeper’s Deep Throat, she was crooked. She was on the take from the church.
Sharon May denies even finding Maskell’s photos of his victims. She feeds the “merit” bullshit. Again, an appeal to a lab coat guy. Cause if it was the other way around on power, she’d go on the powerful side.
“I didn’t disbelieve the victims. I wasn’t Catholic, so I didn’t have issues.”
Maskell “resigned?” I’ve never heard of that, unless it was Ratzinger. He resigned.
Speaking to the mentality of victims under oath in episode 4. Wow. Preying on the pain and suffering of the victims.
Maskell went to Ireland? OH SHIT. Just send him to the Vatican, why don’t you? It’s Roman Catholic church monarchy, more or less, in both places.
“Professional Catholic.” That’s a great description of Paul McHugh. He’s at Johns Hopkins STILL.WOW.
James Skenell was the first on the scene of Cathy Selznick’s murder. If James Skenell didn’t know Maskell personally, he’d probably believe it.
Who’s Brother Bob? Blaming Jean for Cathy’s murder, among other shit. Jean’s afraid of him, cause she doesn’t know who he is. As well she should be. I would be too.
Lil Knipp saw Maskell on a hospital bed. She wanted to talk to him. But apparently, he lost his mind. He died in 2001.
So why brand new tires? Ed has known violent tendencies. What the fuck was Ed doing?
“Woman in the attic.” The entire story sounds like Anthony Perkins in Psycho.
Wait, Ed is ALIVE?? YO YO MA ! We come face to face with Ed himself. What’s up with Ed?? Seems like something’s wrong clinically.
It almost sounds like Wormwood or Seth Rich’s death. How is it they had ZERO evidence? Bullshit.
WAIT, what? A cop had this person’s vagina cut off and threw it on the table in front of Koob…
And the dumbass former captain says, "That would’ve never happened…"
To invoke Al Pacino: Now who’s being naïve Kay?
Wait, so archdioses lawyers show up to defend Koob? Wait… some shit was happening.
FUCCCKK! Cesnick wasn’t dead right away…...
And no records? Sounds like Spotlight in Boston. “They aren’t there.” Church made them disappear.
Via a conversation between Cathy and her dad: her dad says,” You don’t pay bills. It’ll be hard. The world outside Is dangerous.”
Of course, he’s right. BUT, Cathy is correct beyond measure. “How do you know my world isn’t dangerous?” She replied.
“I wonder if Russell Phillps knew.” OF COURSE SHE DID. Maybe not specifics, but something was going on.
It’s like saying,” Oh, did Oprah know about Harvey Weinstein?” YES!!!!
Russ made a comment to her friend when Maskell died. “He went to the grave with his secret.”
You could possibly narrow down who Brother Bob was on Jean’s memory frags alone.
Only connection was The Catholic Church and Father Maskell between Joyce Malecki and Cathy Cesnick.
Seems like evidence was meant to disappear on Joyce Malecki's death.
“We need to pressure victims to come forward.”
WHY? How? WHAT? HUH? Let me count the ways this is bullshit, that grown adults say with a straight face! Who’s the Archdioces kidding?
That’s a massive conflict of interest. The institution responsible for hoarding these evil freaks and cover ups will provide services to help them? Like the Dr. that was on Maskell’s referral list. CT Wilson is so right. Catholic Church can’t cut you and provide band aids.
Yes, subject more victims to even more abuse!
“I understand why they don’t come forward early on.”
THEN WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU STANDING AT THE FUCKING PODIUM THEN DEFENDING THESE CRUEL PIECES OF SHIT?
The delegate in MA here says,” Don’t remind me that it may have been my fault because I didn’t say anything.”
My response: No. Be honest with yourself. In reality, you know that you would’ve been fried at the fucking steak if you did.
“Why do you wait so long to come forward?”
“We reached settlements with victims after statute of limitations have expired and we had no legal obligation to do so.”
You sound like Apple when they’re handling business accounts and products! Oh, great for you, you reach settlements when you don’t have to as an institution. As if the survivors inconvenience you. Oh, you’re so kind! You reached fucking settlements. We all know why.
This guy as delegate is fucking BRILLIANT. He might even lose his delegate job because he’s bothering to out the corrupt. MASSIVE POINTS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope what happened in Boston happens to The Catholic Church worldwide one day.
And they tried to bribe the new lawyers. There’s no real closure due the fact that no one can figure out who “Brother Bob,” was.
The show leads you to the conclusion almost everyone found closure. They didn’t.
And massive points to the crew for not trying to make us, the audience, side with the corrupt, psycho, evil, monsters these people are. It seems to be a recurring theme in American media since… the 1930’s at least.
So, if Cathy Selznick is the only one we’re hearing about now, how many more people were murdered by The Catholic Church?
“It’s not possible.” “The bishop denied it.” “Why would they do it?” “They wouldn’t do such a thing! They’re priests!”
Sadly enough, it is very possible. They would do such a thing.
If you subtracted the reenactments, I'd give this a solid 10. But, the reenactments knock it down to an $8/$10 USD. If you see it, you wont be disappointed. There's a few things I wish they would've gone into a bit more and they need more connective rope, but other than that, it holds up.
So I say as a final rating: $ 7.95/$10 USD.
