#MINNOWSMATTER - SAVING TINY FISH FROM CERTAIN DEATH IN A DRIED UP POND

in minnowsmatter •  7 years ago

Oh no! They are all dying!

While out with a few @little-peppers yesterday, I stumbled upon a little pond that was drying up. At first all I saw was dead fish, but then I noticed that some were still alive. Armed with a few little nets, a tiny bucket, and a desire to help these creatures out and prevent them from perishing, I got to work as quick as I could.

I wanted to avoid a situation like this, where hundreds of dead fish would be left without water. There was a good mixture of Perch, Largemouth Bass, Sunfish, and Carp. Although not every fish was rescued, the ones that were should be happy about it. Check out the video for more.

MINNOWS MATTER - SAVE THE LITTLE FISH!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Newbies on Steemit are Exactly Like These Dying Fishes! They Must be Supported else They would Lose hope and fade Away

I feel like one of those minnows!

lol, I was thinking the same thing. With the price drops of the last several weeks, the water is getting low and the minnows will be flopping around on here as well. I love the #minnowsmatter it just fits right in with steem. Well done, and thanks for supporting us minnows.

You're welcome man! How are you enjoying it here?

I'm enjoying it. Still finding my way around, trying out new things, testing different ways to get posts noticed, etc. My first garden veggies post actually did fairly well, I entered quite a few resteem contests and tried a couple of cheap bots. It ended up getting votes from a couple whale/witnesses ( @hendrikdegrote @drakos and @curie ) I'm pretty sure they were just trying to be nice like you were, because the post was probably lacking a bit of style.

I do have a quick question, do you use a specific markdown editor or do you create your posts in HTML?

Thanks again for always being ready to help out.

I just type in the codes manually.

When it comes to stylizing my text.

It kind of becomes second nature.

Yup, #truestory! Trust me, a lot of the "older users" know exactly how you feel and try hard to welcome, bless, encourage, and support the new minnows here!

You can't have full grown adults when the lives of young are wasted. Whether on the Steem blockchain or in the off-line world, we need to equip and enable the newest members of our families and communities. They will become leaders, helpers, dreamers, and creators. We can be apart of that.

Somebody throw me back in the pond please! 😀

Upvote (pond toss) - for what it's worth...

okay, looks like it is worth about 81 cents

Ha! I love how this metaphor just keeps extending! Now let's see if I survive long enough to be a big fish! 😀🐟🐠🦈🐳

Just feeding the minnows... nothing to see here.

65 more cents in that little piggy bank....

Very, very well said!

LoL There's got to be an anology in here somewhere ...

I suspect it would involve mentoring...

Mentoring has a high potential to result in a rewarding investment of time and usually results in "feel-good vibes."

So, not a bad idea you have!

Working on a master #help post for new steemians now, got a lot of content and advice that has blessed others here.

Yep an index would definitely be helpful. (And an indexing system would be amazing. )

Your how to's and a few others helped me a lot. It should all still be relevant.

I hear that! I wish we could even just feature a few of our own favorite posts on our own page...

I'd settle for the ability to have 3 or 4 category links for our posts. Anything. Personally, I'm thinking of actually using my poor old neglected web site as a categorizing weapon for my steemit posts.

Finding my old works requires all the google.com search hacks I know -- and I've hardly written anything compared to your volumes.

LOL - Don't even get started with my history.....

Ok Deal! But do Yell if you need help digging through your history in the treasure box.

I'm quite impressed that you could tell the difference between all those different types of minnows. I have always considered them the same type of fish until they get larger and show more distinct features.

Oh yeah, I best recognize!

"THE WILD-MAN'S WILD FRIENDS"...of course you had to save the ones you can! Well done!

Sure did! Thanks @simms50!

💔 Thank you for helping the minnows

Nice! #truestory!

Pepper patrol strikes again! Well done, gang!!

Thanks! We do what we can!

And it's always a lot!

Great job, @papa-pepper! Now there will be a few fish more that will grow and feed a family or two. You need to get you pond going, @papa-pepper! Best thing we ever did!

I so agree!

It's on the to do list.... maybe third as far as big projects... or fourth!

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

Nice work @papa-pepper. Quite symbolic at the moment with Stemmit haha 💯🐒

That it is!

Good job some or on it hey 💯🐒

If only Steemit worked this way.

I think to a degree it does. We are trying anyway!

Oh, so sad for this fishes die....

I know. Very sad indeed and a terrible death...

I could see you were trying to replicate STEEMIT life, and we hope you do the same for this community. What a humanitarian you are... Give out some food to the dying fish...

we hope you do the same for this community

Honestly, I try to do what I can and besides advice, encouragement, support and upvotes, I have literally given away tens of thousands of dollars worth of crypto to other steemians, which I hope would qualify as "Give out some food to the dying fish..."

Glad to hear this Sir...

I feel that I am just like that.
Honestly, you did a noble job saving as manay as you can. You are a hero indeed

Not sure what your avatar is doing there, but thanks for the compliment.

Being a Waste not, Want not guy. collect all the dead fish that you showed, dig them into your garden beds as a top fertilizer, or, process them through the chooks.
Imagine half of the next door farm, dug to 4 to 6 feet deep in an interesting shape, full of fish waiting to jump onto your hook.
Electric fence it to keep out the poachers, charge the kids a buck an entry, you will need the other half of the farm for parking.

I've thought about that! I almost collected them right away, but @mama-pepper is still trying to train me on how to have a newer truck, so piles of dead fish on the seat is out so far.... but don't worry, soon enough it'll be an old truck!

good to see that she still thinks you are still trainable.
don't worry, after 50 odd years she will realise it is a hopeless task and give up.
[the fish could have ridden in the buckets],
[fish make good fertilizer, note for the future]

I use fish for fertilizer all the time, and I'm even working on some "fish emulsion" projects right now. Unfortunately, I had no buckets at the moment.

Good news to hear that she'll eventually be giving up!

The first 50 years is the worst, then they realize men have selective hearing and only hear what they want to hear, like " want a coffee??"

Good job!...:)...

Thanks!

All those dead fish! I'm glad you were able to save a few, good deed for the day. All those little fish will grow up to be big fish, that could feed a family. @ironshield

Indeed! I'd rather had a big fish die quickly and be put to good use on the dinner table!

This is very cool, but the fish is too Small.
but why many of these fish are dead

The pond dried up. No more water.

I think the fish was poisoned.
But you do a very noble deed.

Great job @papa-pepper. We have a lot in common! I also spend my days saving animals over here!

I hope there a guidline for Newbies on Steemit so they and me of course, not Like These Dying Fishes! If only there's a place to Support each other, anyone know what should I do ??
