Anti-Abuse Team Weekly Report #4
Friday - September 22nd - 2017
Just a quick look at the statistics is going to pretty much be our entire update this week. Nothing amazing or new has happened here, and it's just been another week here with the AAT.
The details of this weeks prune of the member-list -
- 4678 Members before this week's prune was run. (236 new accounts since last week)
- 30 Day Prune has removed 162 dead accounts. (41 less were removed this Prune)
- This leaves our count at 4516 Members after the prune.
- ~409 Concurrent users online at 20:00 EST (-1.93% from previous)
Updated stats on Bans and Blacklist -
- 693 Discord bans (+74 new from previous)
- 393 accounts in total are now Blacklisted by @minnowsupport (+39 from previous)
But, what does it mean? -
We aren't seeing the increase we expected yet, despite being added to the Welcome page of Steemit.com. We are hoping to see this pickup as the platform gains some exposure and more people over-all join up. The total number of bans seems to increase at a steady rate, but those aren't just for abuse of the bots either.
In summary:
It's just been a boring week, for the most part. Not quite the sudden spike in 'joins' that we expected, but we are still growing faster than any attrition in accounts.

Hi @discordiant, I think the lack of upturn in PAL joiners will be related to the considerably lower number of steemit new joiners in the last week. Stats from either @penguinpablo or @arcange show the decline in joiners :
I have only recently become engaged with PAL Discord mainly via MSP Waves radio. Prior to that I had popped in a couple of times but hadn't undertood what it was about. Unless you are invited or guided, landing in PAL Discord can be a bit overwhelming. There are so many channels - where do you start, what do you do...?
This is not meant as a criticism at all, just my observation. Now that I have got involved with PAL and MSP Waves, the whole concept makes very good sense to me. May PAL live long and prosper.

We are constantly looking at ways to soften the 'deep-end' dump new members experience upon first entering our Discord. Our Greeters are a great step in that direction, but we need more people to step up for that.
