Miracle stories (competition)

Many people hesitate to share these stories due to being judged. I believe that everyone has their journey in life and along with it comes trials, joys and sometimes miracles. Some may call it luck. I call it doing good to others and it comes back to you.

This is my true story which happened two years ago. My dad had just started a new ladies and gent clothing business. It was in the City center, where most of the commuters would pass.

Being a new business, my dad could not hire employees. I would have to help every day after school. Being in the City center was very exciting, seeing different faces every day and meeting new people. The best part was that I was getting paid.

My mum also helped my dad and put in some hours. She had her own designing business to take care of.

One afternoon, my mum could not come to the business, she had an appointment with one of her clients. It was just me and my dad. Towards the late afternoon, the city would quiet down and there would be less people passing by. I was standing behind my dad, catching up on some homework, when two men walked into the shop. The one had on a black leather jacket and did not have any hair on his head. He was very large in size. The other guy had on a brown jersey and was small and short in size. I could never forget their faces.

They did not say a word. They walked straight up to my dad and pointed a firearm at his chest, at close range. The gun did not go off and he began to struggle with the firearm. My dad started running, pulling me. I was in shock. All I could remember was the large man pointing a firearm at my dad and struggling with the trigger, and the smaller one putting his finger on his lips and showing me to be quiet.

These two guys ran off with my laptop. It was only my laptop and not my dad’s life. I write this with tears in my eyes, because the very next day a few doors away, the same incident happened and the young man was not as lucky as my dad. He was only twenty years old. He too, was just helping his dad.

At that moment, life could’ve changed dramatically, through some miracle the firearm did not go off. The first love of my life, my dad, could have been taken right in front of me. My dad got saved and was given a second chance in life.

I have learned to appreciate my dad and all the people around me. Miracles do happen but not every day and when they do, count your blessings and be grateful.
