Part 44: Aunt Gülizar's Crazy Hostel

After the phone call, I made with my aunt, I got up and shrugged the snowflakes on me, and I started walking down the streets of Kasımpaşa. After a short walk, I reached aunt Gülizar's hostel. When I walked in through the outer door, I realized the air of the hostel changed a lot. The walls of the apartment were painted, the stairlifts were changed, security cameras were placed on both sides of the entrance. Gülizar was not in her office on the ground floor; I couldn't find the strength to climb up the stairs and search for her in the hostel. I decided to sit in one of the seats in front of her desk and wait for her. I opened my mobile computer and started planning my trip to Anatolia to introduce our application. I thought that if we took a proper route, we would be able to visit all the major cities of Turkey in two weeks. It would be essential to determine the right places for our mini-flyers to reach our target audience for every city we visit. I looked at metro stations, significant squares, shopping malls, and suitable locations on university campuses and pointed on the free travel planning application I found on the internet. I saw aunt Gülizar sitting in front of me.

“What are you doing?” she asked me.

“I was planning a trip; I didn't hear you come.”

”Berkan's gone," she said, assuming that I came for him.

"I'm not here for Berkan; I need a place to stay."

"There are rooms."

"It's good that you made a change."

"I'll have some tea, will you?"

"Yeah, thanks."

"I wanted to keep the middle-income students, what kind of room?"

"Single and cheap."

"How cheap?"

"As much as possible."

-I'll put you to the building under construction."

"I don't want to freeze."

I was impressed by Aunt Gülizar, and I started to speak in short and direct sentences. “There are doors and windows,” she said.

"If there are door and windows, it's good,” I answered smiling.

She opened the screen hanging on the wall with the control device in front of her. By using the mobile computer, she showed the building under construction. Meanwhile, a young boy came and left our teas. While sipping my tea with pleasure, it started to watch the building on the screen. Since the elevators were not yet brought and installed, they closed the elevator gap with a large chipboard plate. Only concrete was laid on the stairs; there were no floors, no railings. The virtual camera started climbing up the stairs. Then the image changed, and a flashy flat door appeared on the screen. “Third floor,” said Aunt Gülizar. The door was opened, a wooden room door was opened to the left of the narrow corridor. The entry in the virtual image was opened by itself. In the room we entered, there was a work desk with a chair, a large wardrobe, a large bed, a bedside cabinet, and an electric heater.

"Not bad."

"The municipality has stopped construction. I said to the building owner; it is national wealth, we should use."

"How much is it?"

"Half the normal price."

"Who else stays with me?"

"Syrians, Africans, Caucasians, people from east, west, north, everyone is there."

"What about theft?"

"I gave the thieves a free flat, and they don't let the other thieves in"

"Perfect, if the elevator worked."

"You're on the third floor; there are people on the tenth floor."

"Deal, I'll get my stuff tomorrow."

"Are you with Berkan?"

"We broke things up."

"He left the hostel without saying thank you."

"That's what he also did to me."

"Human beings had drunk raw milk."

"Unfortunately, I am leaving now. Bye-bye.

The next day I packed my stuff in the trunk of a cab and settled in my new home. The most important thing I brought with me was Bonanza's server, and I was worried that I might have a problem with running the server in my new location, but just a few minutes after installing the plug, it became active. I had access to Bonanza through the application that Tuğ installed on my mobile computer; he was always open to provide me with better service; he was following all the processes I had done through my portable computer; he was listening to the media. He did not speak when he was not addressed, did not try to have a conversation; I did not expect otherwise, because I knew Tuğ intimately, he hated to break up when he was dealing with something. I continued to work on travel planning, meanwhile, the increase in the number of users almost stopped, and an essential part of the current users quickly became inactive. It was not easy to travel in these weather conditions and to distribute mini-ads outdoors. We were able to do daily maintenance, but if we wanted to go further, we needed a new developer who could make deep-rooted code changes on Gulizar. I was beginning to question whether our fundamental value proposition was strong enough; I expected people to pay more attention to such an application that offered to find the love of their lives free of charge.

On the other hand, since Savaş Demirkol was involved in this, the idea was not bad either. Gülizar needed budget and time to be recognized and adopted. And we didn't have either of these.
