I was watching a YouTube video just now and I it fed me an ad for a product called the Monaco Visa Card, which can be found here https://mona.co/. This is one of those rare occasions when I was actually interested in and watched the whole ad!
Apparently they allow you to convert your Bitcoin or Ethereum into spendable currency simply by swiping the card. It does all of the currency exchanging for you, and you don't have to do anything except use it like a Visa debit card. This looks to me like a pretty amazing development in the cryptocurrency space, similar to some sort of ATM that would allow people to cash out Bitcoin into whatever their native currency is. This sort of uncaps the ceiling on how far cryptos can now go in my opinion. There is so much incentive to use these over regular currencies due to the relatively low inflation over the long term, and the appreciation that the currency will do over the near term as mass adoption occurs.

Now for the question I have for people here on Steemit. Is there anything in the works for something like this with Steem currency? Will I soon be able to take my earnings from posts and curation and spend them to buy a tank of gas for example? If so, I think I might want to put a little more of my savings into Steem currency as a speculative play. And if not, it might help explain why the early gains of Steem during this crypto boom have sort of plateaued. Please discuss below!

Just out of curiosity, I clicked @inus12345's link and attempted to get to a contribution page. It told me US citizens aren't allowed to participate. Anyone know why?

Edit: I noticed a comment from @montehansen below in which he explains his experience with it and some alarm bells surrounding the project. Beware. https://steemit.com/monaco/@montehansen/beware-of-monaco-visa-ico-s-management

There's a 404 error on the link you provided. Do you have an updated one?

Seems that they deleted the post, but I found this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1921793.0
Maybe not is a scam but be careful!

I have a recent post with more info on the "brought to you by folks", it's a must read:

Thanks for the heads up. It looks like something sketchy might be going on. Seemed kind of technical-speaky when I watched the presentation ad. That usually sets off my spidey sense.

I just saw the ad on youtube too!
