Spring has finally sprung in Chicago and the mushrooms are starting to come out again.
Found these mica caps starting to poke their way out of the ground.
Mica caps are technically edible but they don't have much of a taste and can absorb heavy metals. I only harvest these in really rural areas.
Now for the spring flowers.

I hope we get some good rains soon. Then the variety of spring shrooms will really bloom. You might need to make a humidity box to create a nice shroom habitat.

So... I'm starting to think I have to move to see some shrooms! They never pop around here!

They require alot of rain and a somewhat cool and mild temperature. Also hardwood forests help.
