It is a fact that the world’s greatest problem is greed for money! Today, money is power, and with the power, you can move mountains. If you look around, everything human beings do ‘screams’ money. What I mean is that we all relate our actions to the monetary value they have or add to our lives. So, our present-day society is busy in either looking for money or trying to multiply the ones they have in every way; being legal or illegal. The latter or the unscrupulous method supersedes the former hence the world is falling apart; no one cares about the other; it’s a man eat man society!

The greed for money has brought along very many vices that either affects the immediate persons, society, nations or the entire environment. I must also state that the greed for money does not only consist of the search for the liquid cash but also on other values such as wealth that include property, stocks, machines, skills, technology, and others; that are either tangible or intangible. Below, below is a list some of the most visible effects of the money gluttony.

6 Extreme Negative Effects of Money Greed in Our Lives

  1. Rampant Corruption

There is huge corruption increase in our systems as people try to redirect public resources to their own personal advantage. Corruption in itself leads to other evils that are weakening our societal structures such as lack of medical care, education, transport, and housing and lack basic needs.

  1. Personal and International Conflict

We are witnessing an increase in personal and international conflicts due to competition on who to gain and control resources. This has led to never-ending wars between people, factions, organizations, and nations.

  1. Indiscriminate Murders
All over the world, people are being killed without mercy by others who deem them as curtailing their illegal businesses. If a crooked businessman wants to gain from the resources of a certain area, and the residents are hindering his efforts, they are surely killed to intimidate others. Elsewhere people are benefiting on selling arms for profits and gain control over regions they see the potential for their businesses.

  2. Destruction of Environment

The state of the environment is every day going south; it is being exploited without minding the future. This has resulted in global warming, famines, increase in natural calamities, depletion of the Ozone layer and abrupt climate change.

  1. Increase in Nonviolent Deaths

Diseases and consequent deaths are being caused by the sale of toxic materials such as foods, working material, and many others. The seller does not care about the wellbeing of the buyers, they only care about how much they make. They are adding unacceptable or unverified and sometimes skip genuine ingredients as shortcuts to reducing production costs. This results in counterfeits which are lethal to human consumption.

  1. There is Depletion of Human Relations and Values.

Today, we value others on their wealth hence the poor are seen as nothing else than objects to be used. This has led to human exploitation or slavery, human trafficking, human sacrifices, drugs sale, and many other evils.

Summing Up

In all societies, greed is viewed as a vice, so I don’t see any positive contribution from greed anywhere; it’s pure evil! If all men could desist from valuing money too much, the world would be a better place to live in, and peace would prevail forever, while at the same time we secure the future.
