Poloniex is by far the biggest and most popular cryptocurrency exchange in the western world.
In order to make STEEM more valuable and a more liquid Cryptocurrency it needs to be traded a bigger exchange like Poloniex. Unless there is demand for adding a coin or massive volume for the specific coin Poloniex will not add the coin.
