While the соuntrу is in dіrе nееd tо аttrасt as muсh fоrеіgn іnvеѕtmеnt as роѕѕіblе, thе gоvеrnmеnt is resorting tо its dесаdеѕ of ѕосіаlіѕt роlісіеѕ, mаkіng India еvеn more unаttrасtіvе fоr іntеrnаtіоnаl buѕіnеѕѕеѕ.

Whіlе іt'ѕ understandable that Ubеr mіght prefer to сlаѕѕіfу іtѕ drivers as іndереndеnt соntrасtоrѕ, it cannot ѕіmрlу сhооѕе to do ѕо while іgnоrіng the reality of thе wау іn whісh іt rеԛuіrеѕ іtѕ wоrkеrѕ to ореrаtе.
The dіffеrеnсеѕ between Ubеr аnd traditional саbѕ аrе nаrrоwіng. The оnlу dіѕtіnсtіоn is іn thе рrісіng, аnd I don't thіnk thаt mаkеѕ a difference in dеtеrmіnіng the drіvеr'ѕ employment ѕtаtuѕ.

If cab companies were doing a great job there would be no Uber. One thing I can't stand from a business or personal standpoint is government overreach and red tape. Enough already! There is a law for everything, and a friggin required license to go along with it. I can't even have fun without a license or a permit. WTF? ! I can see a certain need for some oversight, like background checks and valid insurance. Anything above that like fіngеrрrіntіng, required rеgіѕtrаtіоn seems a little heavy handed, bureaucracy.

The main problem I see with UBER is that it still is not decentralized enough. But I apply the question
"is it decentralized?" and "can it be decentralized more"

I think Uber does not need to be decentralised, but the market for mobility should be decentralised. In order to achieve that, governments should be vigilant that no company is above the law. The Florida county mentioned in he article stroke the right balance and Uber threatening to leave is a sign of its arrogance. Perhaps we need 10 or 20 uber services in each major city and I hope this will be the end game, but regulations on safety and insurance for passengers are also an important requirement to which all players should abide.

The more the merrier. As far as I am concerned if the person already has what is required to legally drive, then this extra insurance is optional. It should be the choice of the rider if they want to pay the insurance premium or not, cos if the driver is forced to then so is the rider.

In China, Uber is now merging with its largest rival, Didi Chuxing. It is actually doing so because it was unable to stay competitive with the local competition.
The days of a business bringing their model to China and expecting to run away with it is over. However, we cannot take away the disruption that uber has brought to the planet as a whole. Without them, there would be no rewriting of laws, or the efficiency increase of incumbant taxi drivers.
In order for markets to display some sort of free-market capitalist ecosystem, there needs to be some disruption to keep everyone on their toes and not get complacent.

I know it depends on each country but in mine Uber is losing a little bit of its approval rating after traditional cabs were heavily criticized. The bottomline is that, yes cabs have been providing an awful service for years but the government also bleed them out with taxes only to allow this new company to soar above them in a month. It's really doesn't seem fair.
I'm not saying they should ban Uber because that's not the way, but at the end you just start feeling a little sympathy for the workers and businessmen who had to paid so many taxes and regulations. I think governments worldwide should relax its grip on certain industries and regulations. That means less taxes and collections. Easier said than done.

What else can I say, that's the nature of business. In my country people are trying to be Uber drivers full time but if you really look at the numbers they are making peanuts after all the expenses (oil, repairs, taxes). It may work in the US or some european countries though.
