Basically throughout 2016 Rome collected 1,5 mil greenbacks from the Trevi fountain.
Visitors throw in a coin in the Fontana di Trevi, to one day to return to Rome. 2nd coin promises you'll find a new romance and the 3rd one is about mushy mushy Roman wedding stuff. The fountain filles so fast, it has to be cleaned of coins every night by the workers.
Don't go scouring the fountain though, it's illegal to swim in the water or steal those valuables, not even mentioning that stealing the coins would bring you more bad luck by the appearance of some unwanted suitors ;)
