Produce means “to bring forth”. I’m often asked what questions a person should ask when evaluating a financial advisor. My answer is simple: “how much money did you make me?” That’s it. If you haven’t worked with them yet: “how much money have you made for your clients?” And I’m not talking percentages, I’m talking about dollars. I want to break down why it is so important to base this relationship on production alone.
Emotions and money do not mix. The last reason you should hire a financial advisor is because you like the person or because you’ve known them for a long time. That doesn’t matter. Just because something is old does not mean it is good. There is not correlation there. If the relationship is based on production, their job security rests on you being satisfied with the results they’re creating. This is the way any relationship should work. To base your financial advisor off your relationship and emotions is to lower your standards, which is the first step to below average Wealth Creation.
Production is the only thing that isn’t a commodity. Literally everything else a financial advisor brings to the table is a commodity. It can be gotten anywhere from anyone in the same space. Everyone has fancy licenses, everyone sells investments, everyone sells insurance, everyone sells financial plans….the thing that makes a person standout is their commitment to producing more money for you and the creativity that follows.
Production weeds out the fakers. The only person who can truly make a commitment to your production is someone who also values production and if they value production it will show in their own life as well. Too many financial advisors want to “build a relationship”, tout their “sophisticated” licenses, and obsess with the different financial products they have access to. I don’t want any of that. I want someone who knows how to make themselves a lot of money by making me a lot of money. You’d be surprised at how many financial advisors live paycheck to paycheck, have little to no money saved, and don’t even invest for themselves. When you lead with production, these fakers will try and talk you out of it. When they identify themselves by doing this, you now know not to work with them.
Obviously, I want to be the person you work with for you Wealth Creation. My average client sees a 30% increase in income, a guaranteed increase in their savings rate, and secures an 8-12% fixed annual return on their investments within the 1st 90 days of working with me.
