From Making STEEM to Spending STEEM in 4 Steps and 20 minutes with Coinbase Debit Card

Here is a short and sweet guide for setting up a system which will allow you to spend the STEEM you make on the same day you made it using a debit card made by Coinbase called Shift. This can work with many pairs of exchanges and cards (just not as smoothly). Today in New York, I made 3 SBD in this morning and spent it on a Subway pass this afternoon.
Here's how:

1. Make a Coinbase account at https://www.coinbase.com. This will be your 'checking account' of sorts, holding your BTC/ETH for spending as you wish.

2. Purchase a Shift Card for $10 at https://www.shiftpayments.com/card. This is a VISA debit card that connects to Coinbase accounts, allowing you to sell your crypto and pay with USD the moment you want to spend it. No US fees, 3.5% international fees, $2.50 ATM fee. Go through the signup process and wait till your card arrives in the mail.
   In the process of signing up, it'll ask you which Coinbase wallet you want to synch your debit card to. Pick the one that holds the currency you wish to use. I like to pay with Ethereum because transactions occur quicker.

3. Go to your wallet on Steemit. Click the arrow next to STEEM or SBD amounts (depending on what you want to sell) and click 'Sell'. This will take you to Blocktrades (blocktrades.us) for an exchange between your currency and BTC/ETH.

4. Go to 'Accounts' in Coinbase and click 'receive' by the wallet you chose for the Shift Card and copy this address. IMPORTANT. This will give you the btc/eth address to send your traded STEEM to. Now go back to the blocktrades exchange and paste this btc/eth address as your 'receive address'. Blocktrades will take you to Steemconnect or Steemit to confirm this transaction and once it goes through you should have new btc/eth in your wallet.

Viola! Now this btc/eth is ready to be spent! The Shift Card works anywhere that VISA is accepted. Go buy some coffee with your content rewards!
