This morning I did a very cool podcast interview.
And when we got talkin' about my start in business, it brought back some disturbing memories.
Doing traditional direct sales for over a decade, with zero advertising, kinda forces you to pull all kinds of crazy prospecting stunts.
Striking up conversations at the mall? Check.
Cold calling strangers out of white pages? (That's a telephone directory) Check.
Stealing business cards from fish bowls and calling them? Check.
Walking into businesses (and sometimes being thrown out)? Check.
Knocking on doors and handing out flyers with an invitation to an opportunity meeting? Check.
I told you I did some crazy stuff.
And being a true introvert, it still shocks me I did it. For 10 friggin' years!
But hey, if you want to win bad enough you'll go through fire, right?
Anyways, although I don't think you need to crawl over broken glass or emotionally torture yourself, but in a way I'm kinda glad I did.
It got me some results. More importantly, I think it helped me develop a skin of a rhino. Which helps in this business.
So I don't regret doing it.
What I do regret though, is being closed to any other option and doing all that stuff for so long.
When it's so much easier, faster and virtually rejection-free to simply attract good prospects to you.
How?
