Finding the career you’re truly passionate about is not easy for many people. While others just know what they want right off the bat, some struggle to find their place – the kind of work they really want to invest their time and energy in. After all, we all want to be successful in our chosen careers so the pressure of choosing the right path to take is high. It’s a goal all of us want to achieve. But what does success really mean for me? What did actually make me so passionate about Real Estate and Property Development?

Everything starts with an idea. The idea of building a career in Real Estate and Property Development came to mind because of my passion for design. It also has everything to do with being around my father and grandfather all the time as a kid, who were both in construction and property development. It has instilled in me a love for the industry. For me, there is nothing more satisfying than building something from scratch and seeing it come to life. Looking at market trends is another thing I am really passionate about because of how it is constantly evolving, as well as all the strategies for the future growth patterns within the community.

My passion for these things has brought me to where I am today, but the journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur was not easy and it will take some time. When I first entered into the industry I was definitely cash poor and time rich. I had to learn quickly that you cannot become a property developer overnight. It took time to develop a business model that created cash flow in order to fund my development ventures. So financial management and literacy are the most important skills to consider and build on it. And of course, hard work.

There is no question that the real estate and property development industry is difficult. Sometimes you get caught up with all the pressures the job entails, which makes it hard to balance work and personal life. But if there is anything I believe wholeheartedly, family always comes first. Having a family of my own made it easier for me to value people. I think the most rewarding part of the industry is helping people with a genuine need, such as developing childcare centers or Interim housing that is helping develop our communities to adapt to the social-economic pressures of the 21st century.

Pursuing your passions in life, especially if it’s an entrepreneurial journey is something I put a prime on and encourage. It’s going to be a bumpy road, but the destination is worth it.
