I do not think this picture need a lot of explanation where would your stored cash get you in those years and where would you be investing it into real estate for example
Short but impressing ;). What is interesting though is also the ration between House and annual income. Not sure how prices are in US but in Germany you need minimum 12 times average annual income for a house. Quite a spread compared to the old days.
In my opinion one should only keep as much cash as needed for living + a years worth of debt repayments. Cash should be used as an expenses system rather than an "investment".
