Hi Steemians. Day 2 of a monthly author challenge. This is the first time I've participated in a monthly challenge and I'm hoping to build some community and find others who are interested in the natural world. I live in the Seattle in the beautiful Cascadia region of the Pacific Northwest (USA) and am lucky enough to go on lots of adventures to the local forest. I'll be posting photos of edible and medicinal and sometimes just beautiful mushrooms, plants, and other goodies I find in the forest.
This was a beautiful day in September in the West Cascades near Darrington, Washington, USA. We went looking for King Boletes and huckleberries, and found both in abundance. My beautiful family was gracious enough to pose with said edibles. We left the mountain with full bellies and enough berries to make a couple huckleberry cream cheese pies for the upcoming holidays. The boletes were eaten for dinner and breakfast at our lovely campsite on the Suiattle River.
