Love Is Freedom

Did you catch that Super Snow Moon? Do you feel like bursting to bud now? Discover where this impressive shot of modern and old, high and higher -still comes from (the credit) and read more about what a Super Moon is here; I am going to sprinkle my portion of lunar dust onto the topic of freedom.

Fenced In

I learned this week: we must leave people free to be idiots if they so need to be. Pity the world is running out of space to jump up and out of their way as they bulldoze past you…. All I’d need is a nice quiet, leopard-free (not so hard), idyllic-pastoral, (very hard to find) spot to pitch my tent in. Somewhere you can do shut-eye in confidence and in self-belief, while you forget the world is a mad, mad, mad place, but in which you can wake up full of new zest, unscathed, unviolated, uncrumpled, the following morning, without having to mind the mines as you go in search of a bush behind which to relieve yourself, or, more reasonably for where I live, without tripping over a fresh debt on your doormat (pecunary or otherwise).

Slow Love

You can’t hurry love! Now there, dear Phil, is a lyric if ever there was one. People first need to get a tonne of stuff out of their own system before they can look into anybody else’s needs. That’s what trying to get four neighbours to agree with you on your fencing teaches ya.

Old Verse

The Vedas already spelled it out for you thousands of years ago; there is no freedom in the external world: the atoms bind you! The laws of nature need to be obeyed. Suffering reminds you to do the right thing by every organ, digit, hair, spermatazoon, every neighbour, every bit of wasted yet untraceable time you make, while time makes you - and only always different to who the I thought I would be.

We overrate freedom as some glorious end goal of democracy and capitalism. Only in the land of the Spirit is anyone ever free.

My advice:

Next time you meet a lover: don’t ask to be flown to the moon, just ask for the Centre.

The Center is good enough; it has to be.

One of my favorite versions of the Mad World:

Still pondering your advice in this fenced in, slow love, old verse, the bulldozer's all around, shit on the front stoop and now where are we in the moon phase? Today, last quarter, I read.
Hope you're well.
