I'm gonna be particularly blunt here.
I'm an anarchist. I'm far from being an apologist for cops. I'm glad that Chauvin is going to prison. I wish that the cop who murdered Daniel Shaver were in prison. I wish that the cops who murdered Tony Timpa and Kelly Thomas were behind bars. I've been fairly consistent about this.
If you're calling the cop who shot Ma'Khia Bryant a murderer, you're a special level of stupid.
Nine seconds. It was nine seconds from when the cop exited his vehicle to when he had to pull the trigger.
He entered the situation only knowing that an attempted stabbing happened. He knew that he was coming into a situation with a deadly weapon involved and he didn't enter that situation with his gun drawn.
He didn't have an opportunity to deescalate. He didn't have an opportunity to talk Bryant down. He didn't have the opportunity to chase Bryant down and subdue her. If he had hesitated for another second, Bryant might be alive; but, she would be a murderer and the cop would have allowed it to happen.
At best, the people attacking this cop in this specific case are demanding perfect, clairvoyant knowledge. Even if he had that, I think that he was still justified. If I had a gun and saw that happening in front of me, I would have pulled the trigger. That's the only ethically correct thing to do when you're witnessing a murder in progress.
Ibram X Kendi is fucking wrong again.
Yes, I do believe in the abolition of the state. That said, I'm not a fucking moron who believes in the state while also being anti-cop. I believe that private people should have the rights to defend themselves which are generally deprived by the state.
We should have the liberty to defend ourselves and our property as we see fit.
So long as fascists exist, we need to tolerate police. So long as we need to tolerate police, we need to navigate how they handle difficult, violent situations.
