I wrote in my post the other day how much my kids love The Wild Kratts cartoon. Well, two years ago we had a Wild Kratts themed party. It was a very special one because it was my youngest first birthday (and my middle child's third and my eldest fifth). I had such a blast at that one! All the party accessories were made either by me or by Vienac, a great company that sadly does not work anymore. My lovely @sanjalydia took the photos. We had special guests: My sister and niece and a dear friend of mine from Bosnia who was here on a weekend getaway, not even knowing we will have a party.

I really love this banner! It's a rope with paper leaves!

The food was standard but much more relaxed than on previous years. I found that I did too much before, spent too much money on birthday food and too much time preparing it. So we had a Croatian party staple, ''Plata'' with cheese and prosciutto, snacks, homebaked, animal shaped sugar cookies that I made with my kids and niece the day before and some cupcakes.

One of my favourite things in the birthday season is the cards they bring from the daycare. We have a thing in the daycare that the birthday child can bring cake or snacks and then they sing birthday songs that day and kids make happy birthday cards for the birthday kid. This ingenious Darth Vader Princess card was made by the daycare teacher for my then 5yo and it was filled with drawings from her classmates.

And the cherry on top: The Cake! I made it my self, almost all of it. I used zebra cake cake recipe and nutella buttercream. I decorated it according to an idea I dug up on Pinterest. The animals used to decorate the cake were plastic (and borrowed. Hvala Ana! ), the pathway sign was made by Vienac and it says ''Happy Birthday V Sisters'' and the Wild Kratts sign was a sugar decoration made by my friend (she also made the muffin tops). I used chocolate wafers for the sides and coloured vanilla buttercream with some crushed cookie crumbs. I loved the cake, and the grownups eat it but all the kids said it was hideous.

As always, we had our nearest and dearest friends at the party, like @dumar022 and @moon32walker. The girls had a blast! We made little envelopes with cute creature power discs and some candy as a ''thank you'' gift. We got positive feedback from the party and what's most important the girls loved it!
