Don't Do It For The Money

in motivation •  7 years ago

Money! money!! money!!! come on, everything I hear people say is money. If you ask an average Nigerian youth why they are working or going to college or the university, why they are learning a particular trade, the response you will here is money.

Money is something generally accepted as a medium of exchange, a measure of value, or a means of payment. - Merriam Webster

Money is used as a means of rewarding so many things, paying debts, and as a means of payment but it is never a proof of success. Having money doesn't make you successful, success is determined by positive impact and value to the world. I always say that if prof. Wole Soyinka wasn't rich after all his efforts and the ability to impact and add value to the world, would he not still be called a successful man?

Why do I feel frustrated because of my job pay

So many people do their jobs because of the money, they complain when they aren't getting the right pay. They are feeling bad, not energised and happy while doing their work because the major motive for doing the work was money.

A friend of mine brought two employment letters to me telling me he was confused to which he should resume, he said to me that he loves A and has a passion for it but B is will be paying him very well. With the present economic condition of the country, he would have expected me to tell him to pick the later but to his surprise, I told him to go for the former because he loved it. You can't do exceedingly well in what you do not love. When trying times come, you might fail in what you do not love but you can never fail in what you have a passion for.

Money is a good thing don't get me wrong, but it should not be the paramount push for doing things. You should do what you love to do and by doing that, you will do it with your heart.

You have to love what you are doing so you can be successful in what you are doing. When you love what you are doing, you will be able to overcome the tide when things are bad and going wrong.

The attachment to material things in this our generation has killed the spirit of passion which propels people to go into anything because of passion even when the monetary compensation was poor.

Money does a lot of things. The difference between doing something for the money and for the passion is the result

Well, money gets a lot of things done. So it's understandable when people go for it in place of passion or contentment. It is often a hard personal choice to chose between money and passion and oftentimes the money usually come up tops

Lol.. Abi now. Money is not everything but it surely comes ahead of what's second

@lemmybe, I agree with you.

That's true, money answers virtually all things but it is difficult for people to perform well in a work they do not have passion for

money is good. It's a tool. But just like you've said, I believe we shouldn't really go after money but what it can afford. Therein lies it's true value.

True. To actually live, We should learn to love what we do.
But this isn't the only thing. Sometimes one has to be "in it for the money"

many people hate their jobs, but they have to keep on. It puts food on the table.

well done Sir.

Nice said @gbenga.
The average Nigerian needs money...
Imagine where in a country, what an average person earns per day is less than $3...

Lack of patience becomes the problem...
But your write up really answers so much as regards this...
Thanks!!!

Thanks a lot

Nowhere else please

i agree! when you love doing something and you encounter some hardships along the way, you will find a way to get around it because you love it and have a passion for it. but when you're just there for the money, and the going gets tough, the first thing that pops to your mind is to quit and look somewhere else. thats why when pursuing something, one should not just focus on the monetary reward they can get from it, but to focus more on having fun doing it and provide value as much as he can to others. money should be viewed as a by-product of what they're doing and not the main focus. that is the right mindset to have.

What can one do with out money? It pays all the bills and without it, you can get frustrated no matter your passion. So it is no wonder that money seems to be a motivating factor in all we do.
