LIMITING BELIEFS

Limiting beliefs keep multitude of people from becoming their best.
Whenever our beliefs are based on a lie, it causes us to live a limiting lifestyle. Now, the sad thing about that is, 50% of our belief system is developed by the time we are 5, 95% by the time we reach 18. That means that the bulk of our belief system is based on our parents' belief, our society and the things that we were exposed to as young children.

I believe you need to wash your brain. Brainwashing is not always bad, but you need to wash your brain from the limiting beliefs you have embraced. I used to subscribe to the limiting belief that because I was a young Africa who grew up inner city, that I could not be successful. Years ago a poem that I heard help set me free.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. paraphrased William Cowper's poem:

Fleecy locks and black complexion
Cannot forfeit nature's claim.

Skin may differ,
But affection dwells in black and white the same.

Were I so tall as to reach the pole
Or to grasp at the ocean at a span,

I must be measured by my soul.
The mind is the standard of man.

That poem help set me free, it gave me power; it helped me to break through a limiting belief. It dawned on me, it is not the family background, color of my skin nor the texture of my hair, but rather what is in my head.
What you Put in your head and what you allow in your heart determine what God brings to your hand. If you want God to bring more to your hand, put more in your head.

Benjamin Franklin said, "Empty your purse (wallet) into your mind, and your mind will fill your purse (wallet) with gold."
Purchasing powerful materials will fill your mind with powerful beliefs that will replace those limiting beliefs.

Many barriers are self-constructed (mental constructs), thus; they only exist in an individual's mind. Why limit yourself to non-existent barriers? Stop erecting barriers that do not exist!

Elephant

Have you ever been to the zoo and wonder how a huge elephant is kept in place by a mere piece of rope tied to a stake?

Elephant begin training when they are babies. A huge chain is put around it's leg and tied down to a powerful stake. That little elephant tries to run and gets to a place where it goes too far, the chain yanks his leg and he feels the pain.

The young elephant, full of energy and vitality, runs too far and feel the pain again. He does that repeatedly. They say after a few months, you can replace the chain with a piece of rope. The trainer drives the stake into the ground, and because of the elephant's memory, if the pain, he limits himself. That limitation, or belief that it's going to hurt, no longer exists but the elephant's greatest asset, his momory, now becomes his greatest liability (lie-a-bility).

Fleas

The average flea can jump about 18 inches. Put a flea in a 10- inch jar with a lid on it. The flea associates pain with jumping 10 inches thus it trains it's mind to stop just before it reaches 10 inches. After a month or so, you can remove the lid and the flea will never jump out of the jar. The only thing worse is the fact that the baby flea jumps even shorter because if his parents' limitations imposed on them. They just follow their parents' example

Fish

Piranhas were put in a tank with a glass plate that separated them from goldfish. After hundreds of unsuccessful attempts by the piranhas to get to the goldfish, the glass plate was removed.

Would you believe the piranhas starved to death even though a few goldfish bumped into them? Why? Because they were trained to believe they could not get to the goldfish.

Flat World

It's hard for us to believe that people used to believe that the world was flat, thus they would not sail too far fearing they would fall right off the "Edge of the Earth".

Bleeding People

President George Washington died because doctors, in an attempt to get rid of his "bad blood, " put leeches in him. Needles to say, they now understand that life is in the blood.

How many of us have limiting beliefs? Some women think, "I'm just a woman in a man's world." Some people think, "I'm just an African in a white man's world," or "I'm just a young man in an old man's world."

Whatever limiting beliefs you have, it's time for you to have a breakthrough.
Barak Obama helped change the world history forever by winning the presidency of the most powerful country in the world.

Some people think, "I could never be happily married." That's a limiting belief.

Other think, "I could never raise good children." That's a limiting belief.

"Others can succeed, but not me".

Some have said, "I must have a man/woman in my life if I am going to make it. "

Whatever your limiting beliefs are, understand this; they are all based on a lie.
You need to break through to the success that you desire and deserve, and by the way -you do deserve it!

*The level of your awareness of your self-worth will eventually determine the amount of your net-worth!

Most of the beautiful women in the world do not believe that they are beautiful in spite of what others tell them, because in their youth they embraced a belief that they were not pretty.

The longer I live, the more I find other limiting beliefs that need to be rooted up like weeds in a lovely garden.

Take a moment and list some limiting beliefs that you may need to uproot.

(Examples - Money is the root of all evil.
All rich people are snobbish.
