There are basically two categories of people on earth: the players who play to win or lose and the spectators who watch to cheer or boo.
Life is about contribution. Life is about service.
No one has been sent to this world as a spectator. You did not come to earth to remain a beggar - only receiving and never give out anything. You're not here just because there is a space for one man or woman; you are not here simply because your family needed a girl child or a boy child.
No, you are here on purpose.
Henry D. Thoreau declared,
You have been put on earth to do some great thing with your life, to do serving wonderful that will benefit both yourself and others.
No player enjoys sitting on the bench all through the match season, and not featuring on the field.
What employer will be interested to have in his organization an employee who will sit and watch other employees sweat it out?
What government will recognize and reward an obscure citizen who has made no contribution to her affairs?
Nathan Eldon Tanner informed that
service is the rent we pay for living in this world of ours.
It amazes me the kind of passion and enthusiasm with which football fans embrace their so called teams in the European leagues.
I've heard cases where people fought over which team wins the trophy.
In front of my house is a fuel "black-market." Only one person runs the business, but everyday from morning till night, there will be a group of young boys shouting on top of their voices.
What are they arguing about?
Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Arsenal; next they discuss Robin Van Persie, Yaya Toure, Christian Ronaldo and the rest.
So these guys argue all day about the best player, the highest paid player, the best coach ..... and everything about others but themselves.
One day as I listened to them shouting on themselves about whom the hit players are, this thought dropped on my mind: there as basically two categories of people on earth - the players who play to win or lose and the spectators who watch to cheer or boo.
See what happens: players are in the field, fans are outside the field.
Players perform, fans watch; players sweat it out, fans laugh it off.
Players get the pay, fans discuss the pay.
Players are noticed, celebrated and remembered long after the game, but fans are unnoticed, uncelebrated and long forgotten even before the game is over.
