Leaving your comfort zone (& why you should stop feeding in to generic BS.)

There are countless quotes that address the importance of leaving your comfort zone in order to expand horizons and fully grow in to your true self, however the fact that such push into the unknown can be a paralyzingly, gut-wrenchingly, excruciating endeavor.

As humans we are programmed for survival, our reptilian brain time and time again saves us automatically from basic (possible) threats, and yet we are bombarded to convince ourselves that we need to leave that comfort zone and safety net that we have created for ourselves in to insecure waters in order to become more human.

While I do believe that the latter is true -and that enduring choppy waters does create a better sailor in the long run, we need to escape the dramatic all or nothing mindset that we've created.

Small changes are changes.

And they can be just as scary as those external changes people can actually see and expect. You don't need to quit your job, bungee off of a cliff, or hop on a plane to Bali in order to find your best person.

Compliment yourself. Drink enough water. Get out of bed in the morning and shower. If it implies a change for you - you are already one step out of your comfort zone.

Fuck what everyone else is expecting. Fuck generic advice.

Great message! We all need supports and something to fall back on. We need parents, a place to feel comfortable, and things we enjoy to live our lives. But that is not to say we can't also push ourselves to be better and do different things. Thank you.
