This post is made in response to Steemit In Nigeria (SIN2) objectives to help communities attend the conference in Abuja which has been slated to hold between 30th October to 4th November, 2018.
Therefore, all Steem Dollars generated would be used to make SIN2 conference a success.
The test of a follower is loyalty. The test of a leader is personality.
Your person is not exactly the rules guiding your pattern of behavior but your disposition to people around you as it relates with their happiness and how it concerns you.
Everyone wants to lead, only few wants to follow. It is almost impossible to lead if you are not a good follower. Life is itself a pack of lessons and we all must follow through some of the lessons to learn how to be in proper stand when we lead.
Life has given us structure and we either blend in or be left out
Practically, a school system gives a picture of the leader/follower pattern of growth. You are first a student before you grow to teaching others. Amazing reality of life.
What happens when you eventually become a leader will not totally be a factor of the method of learning you participated in, but who you truly are. At that point of being a leader, you are more likely to get positional than relational.
Positional Leadership
Positional leadership influences you in a way that you attach excessive importance to the seat you occupy rather than the people you are meant to serve.
Positional leadership gets you benefits that could only have been given to you based on the position and not the personality.
Positional leadership automatically fashions your thought pattern to a rulers hip and dictatorship kind of tenure.
Positional leadership puts you in a position to the planned against, and plans executed easily by a group of followers who already find your leadership style disgusting.
Positional leadership makes you less of human and more of a robot because no one can correct you.
Relational Leadership
A relational leader is the wanted leader by the team.
A relational leader is a team builder and a team player.
A relational leader gets the best out of his team.
A relational leader earns the trust and loyalty of his followers.
A relational leader recreates a new perception to leader/follower engagements which conventionally was supposed to be a Boss-servant relationship and tunes it to a WE-team (no servant) relationship
A relational leader leads by example, moves more with the desires of the people. Knows where the shoe hurts them, give help when necessary and help them bind with each other in love.
A relational leader is loved even after leaving the office. The benefits a relational leader enjoys, will linger even after leaving that position because the benefits are there as a result of his/her personality.
Relational leadership cannot be over emphasized. It's the best form of leadership and it will buy the followers loyalty forever,meaning even after the position is not longer there, the people will stay and be there for that leader.
Leaders must learn to be in the process with their followers and not dictate the process alone.
Position does not make a leader, a leader makes a position.
Learn the art of leading by developing proper relationship with your followers. Your results will amaze you.
