I discovered that a lot of people, have plans to do stuff, they want to be successful. Everytime they try to make progress, they're hit by a massive obstacle; lack of motivation. I have experienced it a couple of times and I know most of you reading this have experienced it too.

What really is motivation?

Motivation to me is the drive to do something to accomplish a feat.

In this article, I'm going to be talking about the keys to motivation.

  • Ambition

Have a dream, have a desire, have a goal

  • Expectancy

Believe that you can figure it out and that you can do it and it will come true.

  • Focus

Every single day, look at your goals, look at what you need to do.

  • Effort

This is huge, knock off three goals every single day to move forward because with momentum comes more motivation , we can prove it

  • Attitude

We're surrounded by so many negative comment out there, so much cynicism, so many people who have given up and gotten tired, I know that's not you but you have to improve your attitude if you want to get to the next level. You have to learn how to meet people from a more higher place of joy, have a outlook on each day that says I can grow today I can give today, I can create some surprises for some people, I can have some fun, I can get it done

  • Environment

You've got to set up an environment that allows you to win, that means from what your desk looks like; organized or the way that you like to work even if it's a creative mess to the people that you hang out with. Your peers have a lot to do with the setting long term; your health, your drive, your success, your social economic status. The people that you hang out will impact your life tremendously. So your environment matters matters, do you have the right people? If you don't have great people around you, then your life will mirror their failures. then your life will mirror their failures. I always tell people, go to seminars, get into personal development, go volunteering, go do things with charity organization, your church group, get out there with people who are like minded; who want to grow and who want to give. If you hang around people who want to grow and who want to give all day long, you'll become stronger and you'll contribute more too, you'd find more motivation and fulfillment.

How do you sustain motivation?

Big question, how do you sustain motivation over the long term? Not just sparking it so that you feel good every morning, I'm talking about sustaining it of years.
Have you had a period of your life where you've experienced years of major progressand and major breakthroughs. what did you do then? And if you've never had it, what did people who have had good do? What did they possess?

Here's what they had; they had the ability to sustain motivation. To sustain motivation, you have to do two things you probably know already;

  • You have to focus

Before you scroll down, thinking you've already seen this, please just read it. A lot of people have that initial fire but they don't look at their goal every single day, they don't revisit it. Let's say on a Sunday; you should ask yourself, "how did I do this week, how did I do in my health, in my relationship, in my career, in my finances, how did I do with any other goals that I set up". You have to have the daily discipline to focus on what you're doing, and have a weekly review. You also have to have the ability to avoid distraction, you also have to learn how to set boundaries, how to say no. When you're focusing on something, it brings your full presence into that thing, so you perform at higher levels.
The other thing you need outside of focus in sustaining motivation is;

  • Everyday Effort

It's the reason you have to set up habits, it's the reason you have to have a daily routine; like a morning routine, it's the reason you have to make sure you have a checklist of to-dos each day. I know this sounds so basic, but here's the funny thing; a lot of people think they'd have motivation one day, then they'll put the needed effort. It's like motivation, then effort comes, to them; the motivation inspires the effort. It's actually the opposite. It's with daily effort, that motivation comes. I like to tell people this;

With momentum comes more motivation.

Don't wait for the motivation, to go out and take action, actually take action first, because just a little bit of progress and a few quick wins, drops dopamine into the brain. You start feeling good, rewarded for your behavior and suddenly you have more motivation.
So here is the thing, set three goals each day, knock off each of those three goals. If you could do that each and every single day, you'd start feeling more personal power, and you'd start getting ahead.
