The Critical Drinker just posted a review recommending this film; but, I'm being completely honest in saying that, when this film came out, I liked it enough to buy the DVD back in the day.
If you're in the mood for a good horror movie, and creature feature, with a lot of gore, and great female characters who aren't painfully two dimensional, this is a good way to go.
Really, upon re-watch, I think that this movie would work about as well with an all-male cast as I would expect the proposed film adaptation of Lord of the Flies with all girls to work -- it wouldn't.
This is a film from a bygone era when people were allowed to treat women as people rather than over-cranked, robotic, girl-bosses.
