Black Mass is the true story of Whitey Bulger, the brother of a state senator and one of the most violent criminals in the history of South Boston. He becomes an informant for the FBI only to take down a rival family that was invading on his turf. The movie was released on September 18, 2015 and was directed by Scott Cooper.

For awhile I was waiting for another gangster movie to come along. One that would really remind me of Goodfellas and Casino. And I mean awhile. Didn't think they'd ever make one again. But then this movie hit the theaters. I made sure to check it out at the AMC and I loved it. This shit is crazy dude. If you enjoy a good gangster movie, one that's actually based on something that actually happened, this is definitely the movie for you. Johnny Depp really steps into the shoes of his characters, and this is definitely one of those roles Depp gave a phenomenal performance. That deadly stare he gives people in this movie almost scares you a bit. Depp definitely got the look down as well as the mannerisms to make him just as intimidating as Whitey Bulger once was. He was a straight up gangster.
It's got those ruthless killings and intense dialogue that every gangster movie is known for. Quotables for days. One of my favorite scenes is when the agents that are investigating Whitey are all discussing just how dangerous this guy was. One guy asks "What about these LSD experiments when he was in Alcatraz?" Someone tries to come to the defense saying "It was just a few times to get some time off of his sentence," where the guy replies back "It was 50 times." I thought that was crazy. Not only is he a ruthless gangster but he's been given large amounts of a mind expanding drug. He could be far more dangerous now, than he once was before. 5/5. Give it a watch, definitely won't be disappointed.
