Survive the POW camp
It has been a number of years since I last saw this, and while I believe that this movie took a few more liberties with the truth than the "Great Escape". It is still very much a glimpse into the situation during the second world war.
This film is about British prisoners of war (POW) during the second world war. They are ordered to build a railway bridge for the Japanese. Their initial reaction is one of sabotage, however, under Colonel Nicholson their commander, they are persuaded not to sabotage the efforts. But, rather have it symbolise the British spirit, or so is his argument.
Initially the other prisoners agree, but the Colonel is shown to be a arrogant and deluded obsessive man. The bridge is more of a symbol to himself, and building the bridge is closer to collaborating with the enemy. It is his insistence that the bridge must be built no matter what that filters back to the Allies, and they send a team to blow it up.
Will the bridge be built or destroyed? To answer this, you will need to watch the film.
