A late JOKER review.

So i watched Joker yesterday...

I never like going to the cinema when the movie first releases because you always have those loud breathers and talkers that ruin the experience.
Which is why i choose to go after a week or two.

There was a lot of controversy tied into this movie which i suspect was part of the marketing campaign to get people in the seats which was further spread by leftist media like wildfire.

What was it they said?

Glorifies incels?

I didnt see it. What i saw is a movie that had a trailer that was many times better then the movie itself. I saw a movie that did a lackluster job of portraying a supervillain. I saw a movie with basic dialogue and a in your face puddle deep message. I saw a movie that had no need of using the DC licence to tell this story.

For all its hype and talk the movie itself is average at best, which makes it a disappointment for me.
Sure, the cinematography was decent but the movie seriously lacks a punch.

A lot of the critics, the media and audience praise the performance of Joaquin as Joker which baffles me. I attribute that to everyone hoping to see something great like Ledgers Joker.
If you believe it hard enough it will become true!
Nope, it wont.
This Joker doesnt even come close. One reason is that it takes more then a good actor to make a memorable and exciting character (Todd Phillips just aint that good of a director) and the other reason is that this really isnt the Batmans Joker. Its actually not Joker at all. Throughout the movie i was expecting this transformation of Fleck into Joker but we dont see it which makes me wonder what was the point of tying this into DC comics???
Even when he does the deed at the end and shoots Robert DeNiro there is no menace in that, hes just a guy that is off his meds and going through a rough time. He isnt special, he isnt different. Hes just a crazy guy and Batmans Joker IS NOT just a crazy guy.

At the end you dont see the drive in him that Joker has, you dont see him ever becoming the super villain in the comics or anything close to it.

CONCLUSION:

Even though you can enjoy some parts of the movie and the look of it, the movie offers very little.
