DEUCE BIGALOW: EUROPEAN GIGOLO [Bigelow 2005] - movie review by Mandibil

"Same ho, new lo" it says on the box. I have not seen the movie, that came before it, so i cannot say about the "new lo" part, but the standard is surely low, just as i expected. I have nothing against corny humor, as long as i get a good laugh. Actually i have a lot of respect for movies that strives to be funny, since it is not at all the easiest job in the movie business.

Deuce Bigalow flees from a dolphin accident to join his black, male gigolo pimp friend in Amsterdam. It turns out that a man whore killer is loose in the city and his friend is accused of the crimes, since he constantly ends up in awkward situations with the victims. While he tries to get his friend of the hook, he meets a very pretty girl, who has 130 weird habits due to OCD. While rallying the union of European male gigolos to help him, he tries to find the identity of the killer and realizes that his new girlfriend may not be as friendly as he thought.

The humor is surely very corny, and mostly it is too corny or clumsily executed. I did get a few laughs here and there but the overall feeling was, that this is just a cheap spin off to cash in on a previous success (i am hazarding a guess here). There are the usual soft porn aspects and the pretty girls to boot, but it does not save this movie. It is not really funny, so unless you are satisfied with a pretty face and some boobs, then this is not worth your time
