In a bar on Unification Day, a tale unfolds,
A fusion of space and Western, a story to be told.
Firefly's fate was sealed from the start,
Fox Network botched the show's introduction, leaving a scar.
The Train Job, a standard episode, took its place,
Discarding the pilot, all world-building wasted.
Confusion reigned, viewers perplexed,
The premise, universe, and characters perplexed.
Joss Whedon and Tim Minear tried to fill the gaps,
Action, humor, and desert, a unique blend in the laps.
A train robbery on Regina, the plot so uninspired,
Echoes of Melville's Un Flic, a borrowed fire.
The twist near the end, a contrived surprise,
Conscience revealed, the protagonists' motives compromise.
Slow pacing, character intros, the plot lagged,
But the final act, physical action, humor, and dialogues engaged.
Standout performances by Fairman and Henry too,
Limited material for regulars, a missed opportunity.
Ultimately, The Train Job, a forgettable start,
Yet, character moments, morality, and consequences left their mark.
A flawed beginning, a stage set for more,
Firefly's essence, though, still waiting to be explored.
