Will Ferrell has his... own kind of humor. You probably like it if you were a fan of his during SNL. But for Ray Burgundy, it was surprisingly entertaining.
Go back to the 1970s, before continuous cable news. When the local anchorman was widely respected as a bearer of the truth. Follow Ray Burgundy and his news team as they dominate the San Diego news environment, beating all their competitors in ratings and also in real life(!!) But a call for diversity will completely change their world...
Because of it short duration, this movie is, in a way, perfect: just the right amount of absurdity, of crude humor (that's not too explicit), easy jokes and nostalgia. It even teaches a good lesson: never become too soft when a "weaker" opponent comes around. You never know when she will overtake your job because she doubles down on her efforts.
In short, this movie is definitely worth your time. It's funny, it's over-the-top and absurd (especially the "dog deciphering") and is just the right length so the storyline doesn't get lost. You can finally see where so many popular memes come from
