Today's selection from Redbox. In the movie's intro, Sisu is described as an untranslable Finnish word related to "white-knuckle courage". Wikipedia says it's inspired from the story of a Finnish sniper that confronted the Soviets and from Rambo. Quite over-the-top, but entertaining.
A goldminer, who wants to leave the war behind him, is mining for gold in the Laplands with his horse and dog. But as he travels back to Helsinki (?), the world reminds him that there's still a war going on...
The main character doesn't utter a word (except grunts and a few laughs) until the very end. All through the movie, he tries to walk in a straight line as if nothing is happening. Andf when reality catches up, he simply annihilate those who stand in his way. As an ex-solider, he apparently learned many ways to brutally kill his enemies, including surving being hung.
It's a movie, so suspend all belief in reality because there is none. If this is based on a true story, there's no way 3/4 of it even happened. However, it's entertaining to see all the many different ways the Nazis die and the many ways the hero (and others) kill them. And it's a short movie, so at least they're not trying to build a boring saga.
Final rating: 3.6/5
