With this past weekend being Labor Day here in the United States, I found myself bored, sitting on the couch, going through shows on Amazon Prime. Generally, I'm no fan of Amazon shows, as only about one out of every six is worth watching, and only about two out of every eight of those worth watching get extended into a second season. It's become a crapshoot of such in the business of wasting my time in coach potato land. So much so that I often skip that network and wonder why I even have it.
This weekend was different after I saw the trailer for the show 'From.' I immediately dove in after seeing that Harold Perrineau (Mercutio in 'Romeo+Juliet,' and Augustus Hill In the HBO Show 'Oz') is the star of the series. What I was immediately dumped into was a tense, suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat type of show. This creepy little town literally imprisons everyone who enters the area.
According to The Wrap:
“From” is created and executive produced by John Griffin (“Crater”), directed and executive produced by Jack Bender (“Lost,” “Game of Thrones”), and showrunner and executive produced by Jeff Pinkner (“Fringe,” “Alias,” ” Lost”).
It makes perfect sense that some of the crew that worked on 'Lost' would be in the production room of 'From.' You can feel the similarities almost from the start. I quickly found out that this is an EPIX/MGM+ show, not an Amazon Prime show (which immediately added some points), even though the first two seasons are currently on Prime.
At any rate, this show now has me hooked. I won't go into any details on this one as I do not want to spoil it for anyone who has yet to watch the first episode, but it's worth at least giving it a try. I'm almost at the end of season two, with season three literally being released this fall.
I will return to this topic, with spoilers, after I watch all of season three! So stay tuned...
