With superhero movies and shows failing, are we about to enter a new era where video game adaptations become "the thing"?

Sonic, Detective Pikachu, and Mario have been very successful video game-to-film adaptations, and there have been successful films in the genre like Free Guy. Throw in the success of shows like Arcane and The Last of Us, and it seems like superheroes may be on their way out.

What do you think? (Also, should I go see this movie?)

It's weird, there was all this talk years ago about "superhero fatigue" but it was clearly awash because you still had huge success like Endgame, Joker, No Way Home.

But I think what we didn't have then that we do now is a bunch of shows as well. And they're all the same. "Let's crack a joke about how ridiculous this name from the comics sounds." "This bad guy is going to destroy the world."
