Charlie's Angels Reboot Eyes Its Angels

The film is still in pre-production, but some interesting rumors are surrounding it.

Elizabeth Banks is set to direct the movie, so we know it will be an action comedy.

According to movieweb the script has went through significant rewrites, which is not surprising considering it was writing by Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast and even there someone was brought in to re-write his script). I am not sure if the fact that Narcos creators: Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro are re-writing the script suggests what the movie might be about. I don’t watch Narcos, but considering the high praise that show is receiving I will take this as a good sign for the movie.

The biggest news is that the movie wants to cast Kristen Stewart and Lupita Nyong'o as two of the three angels. Lupita Nyong'o in my opinion in a great choice. She’ll be coming off Marvel’s Black Panther which will people recognize her face as most of her work until now has been motion capture. It’s also obviously an action movie, which will make people see her as more action orientated. Also, it will be her first movie in a long time outside of Disney.

As for Kristen Stewart, it doesn’t matter which role she takes on, she always ends up looking anxious in my opinion. Even in Snow White and the Huntsman she just struck me as Bella with a sword. But, it she still managed to look badass. So, I guess we will have our first angel with anxiety issues. They better just write it into the script to make it more believable. Maybe she has improved in the many years that I have not seen her on screen, most of her projects now are too bizarre for mainstream audiences. This will be a big change for her.

Also, it’s not official, no one been cast yet so take it with a grain of salt and just as the general direction the movie wants to go in with its actresses.

It sounds very different from the original movies, and I think that that is a good thing. People are tired of reboots that are just the same old thing as the previous movie.
