For a while there have been rumors that Ben Mendelsohn will be the villain in the Captain Marvel movie. He has worked with the directors of Captain Marvel (Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck) in Mississippi Grind and he is basically a professional villain at this point. Everything points out to the fact that he will get the role, including the fact that he doesn’t deny these rumors.
Considering that we know that the movie will focus on the Kree-Skrull war, it is most likely that he will play the Skrull Emperor. Meaning that they are saving the Skrull Queen, who is superior to the emperor, for a different movie. Now I don’t know much about the Skrull lore, but I am pretty sure it is all but confirms that Secret Invasion will happen in the movies and that we will get to see the Skrull Queen in a different movie. Perhaps an Avengers movie.
