Spider-Man Sequel Villain Casting Rumor

Looks like Sony is doing something right. First, they got Michael Keaton as the excellent Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming and now it seem that they landed a new high caliber villain for the squeal. The rumor is that it will be none other than Jake Gyllenhaal who will be playing Mysterio. How did Sony manage to cast him? I mean he is not super famous, but like Michael Keaton he is considered an Oscar actor, for a long time he has been making movies simply trying to get a nomination. Which didn't work unfortunately. It was rumored that he is considered for the role of Batman if Ben Affleck should step down. But lets face it, no one wants to be anywhere near the DCEU right now. Looks like Sony is doing something right as part of their Marvel partnership and maybe even outside of it. I hope the role is appropriate for the actor, I mean with screen time and character development.

The timing of this rumour is also not a coincidence. Deadpool 2 already opened less high than the first movie, as most people are more interested in finding out if Solo is actually good or not. Such rumours just still the hype from that movie even more.
