Sholay is an important milestone in the history of Indian movies. The movie had a huge success all characters in the movie and dialogues became so popular that people forgot the original names of the actors. We always remember Jay and Veeru from Sholay similarly when we talk about Sholay we also remember Gabbar Singh. This role was played by Amjad Khan and he made this character immortal in the minds of people. We cannot imagine any other actor in his place in this movie. This role gained him immense popularity here I am going to tell you a story related to his popularity.
One day Amjad Khan was relaxing on Juhu beach with his wife and children. Sholay was just released and people were knowing him, Amjad Khan and his wife observed a mob running towards them, the mob was thrilled to see their favorite actor and people wanted to meet him. Amjad Khan was frightened and he actually ran away from the spot.
The other tale regarding this movie is the role of Thakur which was played by Sanjeev Kumar was first assigned to Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kumar was supposed to play the role of Veeru. Sanjeev Kumar had proposed Hema Malini for marriage prior to the shooting of this movie when Dharmendra came to know about this matter he immediately requested the director to change the role. Dharmendra was in a relationship with Hema Malini and later they got married.
