As a way to escape a difficult truth, humanity decided to adopt as a hobby a global network of virtual reality, OASIS, created by a game programmer who eventually became one of the most influential men in the world.
Although it is not our reality, well it may someday be. The book was published in 2011 by Ernest Cline, and it was Steven Spielberg who adapted to the cinema.
Ready Play One focuses on the past, and that's exactly what made it famous. Being a fairly influential man who adores the 80s, the early ideas of Oasis creator James Halliday was to bring this fashion back to 2044.

Imagine that Ready Player One worked in our world. By itself, and having hundreds of references to various classics, especially the pop culture of the 80's, it is as if we are reading a video game.
The game begins in the worst way: It informs the players that James Halliday is dead and that in his will he launched a competition that he who meets the One Piece of the game will earn a fortune of 240 billion dollars.
The film is kind of a mix between The Matrix, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Ready Player One is not only an ideal read as it is going to be one of the most prominent movies you will have this year.
