San Andreas [2015] review

For the third day in a row, I will post a review of a movie starring Dwayne Johnson. This is a real disaster movie in which the famous San Andreas fault triggers a devastating magnitude 9 earthquake, the biggest ever recorded in history.

Dwayne Johnson, playing the role of a search-and-rescue helicopter pilot, gets drawn into the quake as he discovers that his daughter and wife is captured in the middle of the action. Now he needs to get into the disaster area to make sure that his family is safe, but that ain't easy as buildings fall apart and smaller quakes still take place. In addition, small tsunamis also make the job harder, tougher, and more brutal!

In addition to Dwayne Johnson, we also meet Alexandra Daddario in this movie (whom he also played together with in the movie Baywatch). One celebrity also taking part in the movie is the singer Kylie Minogue!

I could make this a long story, but to be honest, San Andreas isn't worth a very long story. If you have read my recent reviews, you know that I do like the action and crazy stunts in the Dwayne Johnson movies. But, this has got to be one of the most boring Dwayne Johnson movies I have ever seen. I think it has to do with the predictability of the story. Everything went by the book, and this was also a result of the story. Of course, one could not expect Dwayne Johnson to have the power to stop an earthquake, but to me, the fact that the entire story is about how he is trying to save his daughter and wife made it boring. I wish there had been added some extras to the story to make it more exciting and also to stop it from being so incredibly easy to predict from step to step.

To sum it up

San Andreas is a disaster movie that can be watched if you like that kind of movies. But, be warned - it is quite boring and extremely predictable if you have seen a couple of disaster movies before. If you want to watch a disaster movie, go for the Norwegian movie named "The Wave" (Bolgen) instead. It is predictable as well, but it still a much more interesting watch than this one!

Have you seen San Andreas? Or maybe you have seen The Wave? What did you think about San Andreas? Did you like it?

I just noticed by coincidence yesterday that they are planning to release San Andreas 2 in 2019. Hope they will be able to make the story more interesting than this one... And will it be an earthquake once again? For sure not... Hopefully, it will be more action and Dwayne Johnson more in the role with crazy stunts and lots of action.

I saw this movie without any kind of expectation and I end up liking it a lot. It has good special effects. Although the story is very basic, its works for a boring weekend

You summed it up very well :) Thanks from sharing your thoughts @wisejg. Hope to see you around again sometime soon!
